Schlink Frequently Asked Questions
When is the deadline for grant applications?
The deadline for grant requests for any given year is close of business October 31.
How often do you make grants?
Grants are generally paid out in January of the year following the year in which the grant application was approved.
Do you make grants outside of Ohio?
Yes, we make grants all over the United States. Applicants from Ohio, and specifically Erie and Huron Co. are favored. We do not make grants outside the United States.
Do you have a limit on grant size, either minimum or maximum?
No, grants are made upon need, and not any preset formula or arbitrary limits.
If my grant is denied, can I apply again? Is there a waiting period after a denial?
You may apply again and there is no predetermined waiting period.
After I submit my grant application, what can I expect?
If your funding request is denied, you will receive a letter. If it is approved for further (year-end) consideration you may not receive confirmation unless requested. We have been trying to notify first time grantees that their grant has been held over for year-end consideration.
Would you or someone from the foundation be available to meet?
We conduct business as a board. We make every effort to treat each grant request equally. Therefore, meetings are discouraged as a dialogue is not something that can be easily shared with the rest of the board and with the number of requests we get, it would be impossible to meet with each organization.
Can I attend a board meeting to learn more about your foundation or to present information on our special project?
We normally don’t entertain vistors at our meetings. It is inconsistent with our efforts to treat each request equally.
Is the board receptive to muti-year grant requests?
We give thoughtful consideration to all grant requests. While we don’t dismiss multi-year grant requests off hand, they do warrant closer scrutiny.
